Bestfield Homes event focuses on Green Building

Everybody’s talking about green, but how many understand the impact of this movement and how green building practices impact homeowners? If you’re among the growing number of home shoppers who want to know more, Bestfield Homes is ready to provide answers and enlightenment at today’s Open House event, Saturday August 8th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in their Middletown community Fairways at Odessa National.

Part barbecue, part seminar, Bestfield is serving a menu of hot dogs, hamburgers and Rita’s water ice, along with the chance to meet professionals who are certified in green building practices. These experts can tell you everything you want to know about green construction and why it makes sense to go green.

Today’s event is a chance to meet the builder as well, and to find out why Bestfield Homes chose to be at the forefront of the movement back in January 2008. Energy Star certification is now a standard feature with every Bestfield-built home—along with all the features that satisfy the requirements of the National Association of Home Builders green certification program. The mortgage professional on hand will explain how the long-term advantages of green construction can positively affect financing.

When Bestfield Homes added its name and 55-year reputation to the list of builders working to creating a unique community on the outskirts of Historic Odessa, it generated one more compelling reason to visit the most exciting new construction opportunity in the MOT area. Bestfield Homes’ Fairways at Odessa National introduces semi-custom single-family homes to the community mix—a significant addition to the range of buyer choices.

As you tour the two decorated models at today’s Open House, you’ll discover that the Stratford II is an impressive two-story, four-bedroom, 3.5 bath home with a home theatre, exercise area and game room in the massive finished basement. It also features a first-floor office/study, three-car side-entry garage, gourmet kitchen and a two-story family room and foyer. The Carlyle II offers similar assets, including a first-floor owner’s suite. Among the nine additional Bestfield models available are two three-bedroom ranch homes with 2.5 baths. All models include a stone skirt on the front facade, along with an impressive list of standard features: large basement, nine-foot first-floor ceilings, 42-inch kitchen cabinets, to name a few. Prices start in the low $300’s.

Because this builder allows buyers to modify exterior features or move windows and walls to accommodate lifestyle needs and individual tastes, each home becomes a personal statement. Every home can be modified to include first-floor living. Bestfield offers this advantage because they build only 50 to 65 homes a year, which allows them to pay more attention to all the details as well as devote more time catering to client needs.

In Bestfield’s 80-home Fairways neighborhood, homesites range from one-third to one-half acre, so most can accommodate a side-entry garage. Most homes will back to either the fairway or landscaped private open space within the neighborhood.

The golf course for Odessa National has a fairway backing to this community in a way that guarantees spectacular open views. Along with low taxes and easy access to the Del. 1 commuter artery, residents will enjoy access to the adjacent golf course, pro shop and restaurant. The 18-hole course was designed by world-renown Gil Hanse, the only American whose credits include a golf course in Scotland, birthplace of the game. The golf course will also offer a putting green and driving range. Two playgrounds are planned as well, an amenity that families with young children will appreciate. Being in the Appoquinimink School District is another advantage.

Because Odessa National is in a quiet corner near Middletown, less than three miles south of Historic Odessa on Fieldsboro Road, the location is ideal. Shopping is less than 10 minutes away, the commute to Wilmington is only 35 minutes, and Delaware’s beaches are no more than an hour away.
